37th Annual OKC SPE Golf Tournament

The Oklahoma City Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers is holding the 37th annual golf tournament on Friday, July 16, 2010 at John Conrad Golf Course located in Midwest City Oklahoma. This tournament is held to raise funds for our scholarship program.

 

A regular entry fee of $700.00 per team will include a green fee, cart rental, breakfast (courtesy of Washita Valley), lunch (courtesy of Halliburton Energy Services), refreshments, and a chance to win several large prizes. Please contact Phil Owens at 721-8133 for additional sponsorship information.

 

Two shotgun starts are scheduled for 7:00 a.m. and 1:30p.m. with preference given on first come, first serve basis. Tournament format will be a best ball, four man scramble. All teams will be grouped into flights. After play is completed, prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams will be awarded in each flight. BJ Services will sponsor a hole-in-one. Sponsorships are available for $250. Mulligans and throws will be available for $20 each.{all monies go to charity]

 

The following companies are providing food and/or drinks on the course all day: Freepoint Pipe & Supply, Wood Group Pressure Control, Gray Wireline, Reed/Hycalog, NOV Tuboscope, Great White Pressure Control, Maverick Stimulation Services, and Baker Hughes Co’s. 

 

Golf shirts (Lg., XL, XXL, XXXL) with our SPE logo will be available for purchase $ 45.00.

 

Please complete and return the entry form alone with a check payable to “SPE Golf Tournament” to the address below. All entry forms must be received by July7, 2010. Please don’t forget to designate a captain for your team; all correspondence will be sent to the captain. The tournament is limited to 72 teams on a first come, first serve basis, get your entry in early.

 

Please make the 2010 tournament a success again this year by sending in you entry form as soon as possible. All proceeds from the tournament go to support our scholarship program.

Gus Archie Memorial Scholarship

Guidelines for Administration

The Gus Archie Memorial Scholarship is supported by the Archie Fund of the SPE Foundation. Each year the SPE Foundation, working through the SPE Section Scholarship Support Program, as well as working with individual candidates, awards the Archie Scholarship to the most outstanding student attending university for the first time. The curriculum must lead to an undergraduate degree in petroleum engineering.  The Archie Fund endows each scholarship at $6,000 per year. The program provides support of an individual student through up to four years of university study, provided that he/she makes satisfactory academic progress. Students rotate off the program after 4 years of scholarship support.  Selection Procedures  Applications may be submitted to any section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and should be screened by the section according to the criteria used in selecting recipients in the SPE Section Scholarship Support Program.  Candidates may also apply directly to: Student Activities, Society of Petroleum Engineers, P.O. Box 833836, Richardson, TX 75083‑3836, USA  Because U.S. law prohibits provision of certain services to individuals residing in embargoed countries, not all applicants may be eligible to participate in the Gus Archie Memorial Scholarship program. Please go to www.spe.org/go/uslaws   for more information.  Qualifications for Submitting Scholarship  The following information is required from individual candidates who are submitting applications for the scholarship to the SPE Archie Scholarship Committee:  ·         Application for scholarship to be submitted by student. ·         Statement by student that it is his/her intent to enroll in petroleum engineering in an accredited university. ·         Appraisal of student from principal, adviser or counselor. ·         An exit examination or placement scores with documentation explaining how to interpret the score.
